Villa Sammasan

We spent 3 beautiful days at Villa Sammasan last week. The welcome and service we received from Lily and her team was genuine and warm. These ladies could not do enough for us and balanced their service with our need for privacy beautifully. The chef Lucky was wonderful and enjoyed sharing her tips with my husband who is a chef. The food was affordable as Lily passes on her market costs with a small surcharge. We enjoyed an absolute feast for under $60.00AUD for dinner one night...this meal in Australia would have cost hundreds of dollars. The quality of the food was exceptional. The property itself was perfect for our multi-gen family - bright, light, modern, clean lines with tasteful, quirky and warm art all around. The huge living space was beautifully furnished and a second living room upstairs was a great retreat. Twin beds in the downstairs room was great for the kids with their grandparents in a beautiful room next door - each had an ensuite and a great surprise was the laundry! Up stairs the master suite was a delight with a bathroom I didn't want to leave - windows slide open all around the spa bath making the view of Surin beach enjoyable from the bath. So special!! Again beautiful art and furniture made this bedroom a space I wanted to lounge in for hours. Location was central Surin. Surin is quiet and not for those who want action but having spent a week beforehand in Karon, this was lovely. Quite a steep walk down the hill was a bit of a challenge but we managed to convince taxis and tuktuk drivers to brave it and get us to the top! The house is thought out and equipped with a family in mind, the kitchen is fully equipped, the bookshelves full and even kids toys in the cupboards! You can tell a family owns and uses this home. It has a soul, it's not just a sterile house with no love. I loved the art work, I loved the infinity pool with sunken shaded gazebo, I loved the thought put into this house that made it heaven on earth.
